So during conversations you will occasionally get a response that a person liked or appreciated what you said. Which is better? Are there other good responses?

I forgot where I read this, but it said that your conversations with NPCs can impact how things play out.

So, a nasty comment can end a conversation, cutting off valuable information you needed for something.

As far as I know - I read this on another forum* - "appreciation" is better than "liking", but both can be important if you want to romance a character. I'll admit to not being all too interested in romance, though, so I'm certainly no expert.
