No Attribute gain on Level Up - by XekeKOS

The title pretty much says it all.

After having sunk ~300 hours into Enderal and loving every minute of it, I decided to check out its predecessor, Nehrim.
And I haven't been disappointed. It is another beautifully made game, and I greatly appreciate the levelling changes made from the Oblivion system.

That being said, it took me a while to realize that my character was not receiving any Attribute gains upon levelling up. At first I assumed that perhaps this was another difference of the mod. I would click 'LEVEL UP' in my diary and receive the familiar dialogue for gaining a level in Oblivion, but nothing else. After several levels of this, I started to wonder how I was supposed to increase my character's attributes at all. I then assumed that maybe I hadn't gone far enough in the main quest, and this was something I needed to 'unlock'. Maybe when I chose my class (birthsign), I would then be able to access the missing attribute points.

However, after scouring the forums and not seeing any similar issues, I've come to the conclusion that this is indeed a bug of some sort.

I've spent nearly 70 hours in Nehrim, and enjoyed the game immensely. My question is whether this is something that can be fixed in my current game or not? And if not, are there any cheats or commands I could use to try and remedy this?

Personally, even if there isn't, I don't consider this a game breaking bug. It just means that in spite of my current level, I'm underleveled in many ways. But the skill system helps to make up for this fact. (The most 'annoying' side affect of this is that my carry weight is solely dependent on Ice Claws).

Thanks in advance for any advice or tips anyone can give me. :)

When you level up & click on the diary, then click on Level Up, you should see a screen saying "You have ascended to level ##" and "Choose 3 attributes to be increased" with a list of attributes (some may have a +2 or more); you then click on the 3 attributes you want to increase then exit. If you don't see that, you have a problem, maybe a bug.

Yep, that is exactly what I'm saying. I receive the Level Up text, but no option to increase any Attributes or even any mention of them. Just the brief 'insight' text from Oblivion about how I've learned something new.

Never mind. Out of Chargen dungeon & skill/level up seems to work. More serious issues with crashing.

As of yet I have no idea if there's any way to fix the bug I've been having.

However, I figured I'd post my method of dealing with the issue on the off chance that anyone else encounters this.

I've been using the player.setav command to manually increase my stats at level up. This works slightly differently for attributes as opposed to health, magicka, and fatigue. For attributes, you will need to enter the value of the new total, (i.e. If you have a strength of 40, and assume an increase of 3 on level up, you would use the command: player.setav strength 43 ). For health, magicka, and fatigue, I'm less familiar with the formula involved for leveling up. What I've been doing instead is entering a value of 100 for each after fixing my attributes, under the assumption that this works under a percentage based system. (i.e. player.setav health 100, is telling the game to set your max health 100%, basically 'resetting' the value after messing with attributes).

Of course this is a 'cheat' so it can be used however anyone wants. In my case, though, I've been trying to stay as true to the game as possible by only increasing three attributes per level up. Figuring out the exact amount each should increase is a little beyond me, however, so I've been sticking with a straight 3 point increase to try and average out my character's growth rate.

Again, this is just my attempt to remedy the bug I've been having, so I could very well have made some mistakes in my use of the console command. So feel free to correct me or input any other advice or suggestions. :)

Now, back to enjoying this wonderful game.
