I go upstairs with the servant, he leaves, Jerred says we should wait a couple of hours, the screen fades to black and stays there. I tried using console, but it did nothing.

Try playing with the options in launcher.

Deactivate experimental multithreading (helped me out of a blackscreen in antoher quest), activate OneTweak, etc. Or just restart the game/pc, seems to have helped others with same problems too.

I have tried all those to no avail.

Just tried everything again from changing settings to using the console after the latest update and still no luck. Nothing but a black screen. Guess I won't be able to play this until someone is able to work out what the issue is, since I've noticed a number of people complaining about this same black screen in other places. This really NEEDS to be fixed.

Have you tried lowering HUD opacity?

One other thing that may cause problems could be autosaves.

Disable autosaves in options and delete every autosave you have (something along those lines, sorry, don't know the details >_< I just know that sometimes autosaves can cause problems with quests not continuing...).
