OK, this is starting to drive me nutsy.

I removed the .esm for NIE and got the game started with the OBSE loader. But, when I went to load a previous save, I got the "...some elements used for this saved game have been removed. Do you still want to continue?" or something to that effect.
If I click YES, it displays a "file corrupted" message and then "return to game"; then it's right back at the load save screen.

If I start with launcher, here's what I encounter:
[+]
Nehrim_Launcher_Image.JPG
This is right after the musical score plays for about a second, then in 3-4 more that is what pops up. If I hit continue, it just stays with the launcher window showing -Nehrim and OBSE is being started- but never does anything. If I click cancel it closes the launcher.

The only way to start is to use the Obliv.exe and play until it CTD, then restart my computer.

Really guys, I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I haven't found anything yet to correct this. I want to finish the MQ, please point me to something to try. Maybe I got some files in the wrong place or something. Don't know at this point.

Well I run OBSE without any problems since it is a requirement of Nehrim Expanded.

I actually have no clue, what's wrong with your setup :(
As I said, I never use the Nehrim Launcher to start my game.

I directly run it from the OBSE Loader.exe.
And I have no plan what NIE is but I suggest that you shouldn't use Mods that probably never made for Nehrim.
Hm, why the hell do you have a saves folder and an Oblivion.INI in your game directory?
They should be in Documents\My Games\Oblivion.
Nehrim uses the same INI path as far as I know.

Nehim Expanded is a mod which adds some missed set items, new quests and corrects some bugs.
Unfortunately no one has found the time yet to translate it to english.

I put the game saves in Nehrim earlier in the week when I was having mucho crashes. It was showing no saves on loading after I went into "Extras" in the launcher and selected 1. make new INI and 2. use Nehrim directory. That's where the OB INI ended up. I needed to conserve space on my boot drive and that was the only way to gain about a gig.
I need to upgrade and have been pricing SSD for my new build. When I get about $500 I can stop worrying about space issues.

NIE is an improved or enhanced interface over on the mods page. It required OBSE and so I installed it and couldn't get it to work right.
Played about 2 hrs this morning with no issues starting with OB.exe.
Wierd.

That's strange.
I can play Nehrim without any crashes for days...

Probably has something to do with my graphic settings too.
Since they're default and not too high the engine only has to concentrate on the heavy stuff which Nehrim provides.
The details of land masses are much more than in Oblivion.

So I do well with default (medium I guess) settings. The game still looks nice since of godrays, DoF and better textures.

I'm gratful that I've not such weird problems ^^

But I'm sorry that I cannot provide any sensible help :(

S O.K., G

Maybe someone has had this occur to them and figured out a way to rectify it.
ITM I'll be content to finish "Hope at the End of the World" and go on to the next chapter.
If I do find a "cure", I'll post back.

I am really wanting to upgrade everything soon, and that just might be the ticket.
Plus, I am ready to play some higher graphics demanding games now, too.
Prost!

If you have trouble loading and saving savegames, make sure you haven't installed Nehrim into a windows protected folder (programs for example). Also don't expect Nehrim to run much better on better hardware. The problem is the engine code that, not matter how fast your computer is, will always run slow in some occasions.

Have fun with the last story chapter, it's great :)

You know, that's a good point. I am threading with a 3.4 Ghz P IV and tried to use the dual processor setting in optimization under launcher. It wouldn't take.

I have played Far Cry 2 on high settings with zero issues. However, it uses the Dunia Engine which is optimized for dual processors.

I may make an atttempt to set Nehrim on 0 affinity and see if that clears some things up.

I think on maximum settings it will slow down even on a i7 3970k CPU. I believe that there are code parts where the engine waits for something (hard drive or just watiting for a fixed time), so any improvement in computing power will lead to close to zero performance improvement.

Well, I managed to finish "Hope @the end..." by restarting my rig after ctd and no launch from the OB.exe
I just can't understand what resets the game with a restart that allows me to re-launch????

Have tried doing the in game mem purge via the Diary, to no avail.
May next try console "pcb" command and see what diff that makes.

How does that apply to graphics cards? I was checking my fps at the L tomb where Arkt retired and standing still with no action I was only at 19.
Sucks fo sho.

The fps will only be as high as the slowest component allowes them to. Unless you have a really old/weak graphics card (2008 and earlier), it shouldn't be the limiting factor for you.

Apparently the memory handling code is rather crappy in the Oblivion engine (one of the reasons why scripts often crash and cause problems). So I could imagine that after crashing, the memory isn't properly cleared and this somehow prevents the game from starting again. I'm not pretending to know exactly what's happening, but as we don't have acess to the engine code there isn't much we can do. Maybe, maybe a talented modder can patch the binary (Oblivion.exe) so that some of the code runs faster, similar to what someone did with skyrim. But honestly I doubt anyone would spend time on fixing a seven year old engine.
