While I don't think it's as good as Oblivion, I agree that this might be one of the best games in recent memory. I like most everything about Nehrim except the main quest. The design elements of this game are superior to anything that's been released; commercial, indie, or mods. Nehrim makes sense and is believable within its own reality. I can't wait to see what's around the next corner.

I just completed my first playthrough of Nehrim (took almost exactly 30 hours with many quests left uncompleted) and I am completely blown away. Obviously opinions will vary, but I'd personally rank Nehrim with The Witcher and Fallout 3 as one of my favorite RPG's of the past several years.
If anyone reads this wondering whether they should bother trying Nehrim out, the answer is yes. There are some glitches and rough edges, but Nehrim is one of the few games that got better and better the longer I played it.

Just finished the main quest and its gripped me from beginnimg to end, a masterpiece of story telling by the SureAI Team and all so called professional game devs and companies should aspire to reach that standard.
In my mind the only game that gets close to Nehrim for depth and content is The Witcher, which is unfortunately let down by clunky combat, but The Witcher devs have stated that that will be addressed in The Witcher 2.
So all in all, well done SureAI, you can all sit back and grin because you've done a bloody good job with Nehrim and whats more, you've done it for free, outstanding.

Am I the only one who doesn't find combat in The Witcher bad? It's absolutely not what one expects from a video game, but that doesn't mean it's worse. It is definitely an interesting change from the usual fast-clicking mechanics of most games.
What is, however, done badly in The Witcher is the enemy balancing. On Medium, the Beast in Chapter I is very hard (no sure tactics, mostly a game of luck depending on how often it strikes with Pain effect), and most enemies from Chapter II on are laughably easy.

I haven't yet finished the main quest, I 've just arrived to Cahbaet, but I can't keep it in anymore: THIS IS THE BEST RPG I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!! And I've been playing for like 25 years now...
Anyhow, this is the only game that HAS the thing that I've been missing from epic RPGs from the beginning. Which is really being EPIC.
Now IMHO, Nehrim is comparable to only to the scale of Lord of The Rings in this. I am still speechless after the hours down in the dwarfs'.
Recently I've started to think that games can not show me anything new, and they can't. But in Nehrim every hour gives me something new, and great and original, and still familiar.
All in all: thank you for these goooood hours, and I hope I still have some suprises ahead of me.

I also just arrived at Cahbaet, and everything from has been jaw-droppingly awesome. I'm level 26, 80 hours in, and combat & looting are both *still* fun & balanced. I've honestly never played a CRPG where I wasn't a little burned out at this point, but Nehrim actually gets better as it progresses.

I'm kind of jonesing for more, now. Done with most of the available quests, and it was great. The MQ really blows Oblivion's MQ out of water. Between content and the play style, this is pretty much what I would have wanted in ES IV after the wonderful world but choppy mechanics of Morrowind.
Can't wait for the next patch so I can go into Zerobilon and fight in the Arena some more.

What is there to say really? The game is fantastic. Well, actually, that is one thing that could be said - this is a GAME. I mean, I know it is a mod but the term mod doesn't begin to describe what players are getting. Truly amazing work. Thank you.

No you are not. I enjoyed the mechanics and difference the Witcher brought to combat. The only thing I did not enjoy, was I found it to linear.
I wish people would stop saying Nehrim is what Oblivion (actually think Morrowind GOTY was much better than Oblivion) should have been. Nehrim to me is"Nehrim", solitarilly standing in its own division as one of the most compelling RPG's I have played/playing. ( 2 installs, 2 diff characters. Going too see everything this time).
It has a thought provoking and intelligent story, interesting side-quests and an atmosphere both in landscape/architecture, amazing armour and music that takes me too mid-century europe.
Reminds me more of the Gothic 3 (could have been a top favorite of mine apart from the crappy game engine and unfinished feel about it) or Risen landscape.
I know it is still a W.I.P, so is there any chance of removing/replacing the only thing I found disappointing. Some of the creatures from Oblivion just do not meld with the whole feel of the story. Much preferred Nehrims own creatures. Also would have loved to see some Hags in there somewhere (they are Germanic/Russian in lore and legend. Aren't they?).
Anyway. Time to play a little more.

I miss the Dark Brotherhood from Oblivion too... But I also think it wouldn't fit so good with Nehrim^^
