Another forum member was having some trouble with the rats & stones quest and unfortunately did not have a previous save to go back to and may, as a result, have to start the game over. This got me to thinking so I wanted to ask the forum community, just out of curiosity, how many hard saves do each of you have? How many hard saves do you think you average between player character levels? And if you purposefully do not make many hard saves, what is the reason? Is it that you feel having to stop and make hard saves breaks the immersion?
The reason I am curious is because I have over 1000 saves. Now, granted, I have played the entire game through twice and I have deleted large sections of old saves but, still, my save count is over one thousand. Am I an outlier? Or worse, am I a freak for saving so often? I usually average probably 10 hard saves a player character level. More for the higher levels because more time passes before leveling up. I think I save so often both because I have been burned in the past (not by Nehrim) and because I want to have saves that I can go back to and use to play through certain sections that I really enjoyed.
What about you all?

i save quite frequently. mainly because i have stability issues, with oblivion in general, and with nehrim too. most of the time i can go hours without incident. other times i get a crash every half-hour or sooner. i have just over 100 hard saves in my folder, but i usually save over the older ones, occasionally making a new save. (some people report saving over old saves can cause issues, i haven't noticed an increase of instability myself)
i suppose i save about 10-20 times per level. mainly when i feel a ctd maybe over due. or i just don't feel like having to redo something. oh, and i do save alot just before & after events in the main quest. stability issues. personally i don't mind redoing things when i fail at a task, i do have problems having to redo things because of a crash. but, that's just me.

i forgot you also asked how many saves i have in total. i'll see if i can figure that out.
looks like i've only made about 400 saves, seemed like more.

That would mean over 5 GiB of saves. I dont have that kinda space on my harddrive. Also, i find quicksave and quickload (constant use) more convenient. I save every 15 secs -15 Minutes, depending on what i do. i skip it while doing shopping or similar, but i reflex hit the quicksave key before a fight often. And of ourse all the times before i jump into death.
I try to keep a hard save every couple hours, tho i often forget about that either. So i got 4 after 80+ hours.

in oblivion i have 1600 save files. with about 12 characters. counting the reused save slots i have nearly 1900 saves.
and i have about 6 gigs of mods for just oblivion in my hard drive. Don’t worry about space. I have a terabyte hard drive.

Ive got a 128 GB(119 GiB) SSD as my main drive, so i have to worry about space ;p
All the time and always a new file. I'm not being the one to fall victim to savegame corruption.
Whenever I notice that the save menu is getting slow, I head to the folder and delete a few thousand files.
