My issue seems to be a bit different from other posts i've read on here so I created a new topic. What happens is every minute or two the game will freeze for around 20-60 seconds and then "unfreeze". Once i'm back in the game certain textures (like the game menu text, player, rocks) are corrupted. I can alt-tab back to windows then click the oblivion tab and the textures will be fine again. I can somewhat play though the game but the process repeats every 1-2 minutes so I gave up after a few hours of testing different settings.

I'm running Win XP x64 and have an 8800 GT card. I've tried disabling HDR, Bloom, AA, etc.. I've messed with just about every pre-load memory setting among other settings. I tried disabling auto-saves both in the game menu and the diary in game. The problem seems to be something beyond config settings.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated as i'd really like to play though the game. Thanks in advance!
If you have allraedy read the post "screen freezing" and tried all of that!! I can say I'm playing withh2x9800's and once in a while i'll have a slight freeze or very low fps.
1 - You might have some corrupted texture files etc. Try a fresh install. If that dont help.
2 - Make sure you have downloaded or installed latest drivers (there is a beta driver out http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64-26 ... river.html).
3 - Start of with all settings off or at the lowest, inculding turning off autosave in the inventory diary and a lower resolution.

If this helps any then you can start increasing resolution. Apart from that I can think of nothing else at the moment.

Thanks for your reply. I did read through the post you refer to and have tried the suggestions there. I also reinstalled Nehrim which didn't seem to help. I did a fresh install of Oblivion + latest patch before installing Nehrim for the first time, but I will go back and reinstall everything from scratch to see if that helps.

Thanks for the link to the latest beta driver. I'm currently on the latest stable driver, but I will give the beta a try to see if it helps at all. I will also try your suggestions in number 3. Thanks much!
Here's what i've tired since my last post in the order I did it.

1 - Uninstalled both Nehrim and Oblivion.
2 - Installed the latest Nivida beta drivers as suggested.
3 - Installed Oblivion, Shivering Isles, then the latest patch for shivering
4 - Installed Nehrim
5 - Changed all settings to the lowest allowed plus messed around with turning things on and off one at a time.

The problem seems to be worse now than before. The game freezes every 20 or 30 seconds compared to the minute or two it previously took to freeze. Changing settings has no effect on this.

Tonight I will try an older video driver version to see if that helps at all, however, if anyone else has any other suggestions i'm happy to hear them. Thanks much.
First, delete your Oblivion.ini file. It may contain some corrupted things or just very bad settings, and it usually survives a complete reinstallation, so it may be the culprit here.
If not, I don't know - it can be anything from a broken videocard to a Nehrim bug. Oh, and it may be related to some programs running in the background, like viruses, antiviruses, messengers and other trash.
Hey guys. So last night I downgraded my Nivida graphics driver to 196.21 (1/2010) and it appears to have fixed the issue! I was only able to play for around 10 minutes as this was late last night, but no freezing whatsoever!

Just wanted to let everyone know in case someone runs into a similar issue. Thanks for all the help!
