Save files attached. This has happened my whole game, but I'm at the point where I have to go into the quarters to continue the main quest, so I'm stuck.
I tried verifying the game files, and I tried disabling all my mods. Didn't work.
Thanks!
crash to desktop when I go in the Sun Temple quarters

Welcome to the forum
Your save (a manual save would have been better) works fine for me without causing a crash.
Which hardware do you use (CPU, GPU, Ram)?
- did you try to reduce the graphic details?
- is ENBoost enabled (default setting)? Try both settings.
- the same with OSAllocators und Onetweak (on/off)
- make sure that CPU and RAM usage in the “optimisations” tab are on max
- don't use ALT+TAB during loading screens, to click on a different display. It might take a long time for the game to load, even when it seems like it might already have crashed (mouse cursor becoming a circle or might be missing entirely).
- try restarting Steam and/or your PC.
One more hint: your Fast Travel Mod can cause serious problems in some quest lines when used at the wrong time (but is not the cause of a crash).

Wow, thanks so much for replying so quickly!
I tried all your suggested fixes, and it still just instantly crashes to desktop as soon as I try to go through the door. (It happens with either door going into the quarters.)
The loading screen pops up for maybe 1 second, but no picture or text, just a box outline. Then it crashes with a windows error box.
I have an intel core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX660, 12 GB of RAM.

You used cheats, right?
It is also possible that some of your mods have left disturbing rest in the game.
Maybe steam check can not clean up.
Reinstall the game clean (back up your saves, they should continue to work. Without Mods).

It worked! No clue why, but reinstalling worked.
I'll go easier on the mods (though no idea which of the ones I had installed could possibly be causing that problem) but playing an Elder Scrolls game without fast travel is a literal fate worse than death, so I'll just have to run the risk, there. I've already made sure not to use it during main quests, because the writing here has impressed me to the point that I just expect surprises to pop up out of nowhere.

Nice !
We suspect one of your mods left an object in the Sun Temple area that caused the crash.
Fast Travel was deliberately not built in Enderal. That was a design decision.
If you handle it carefully (I tried it myself in my first run...) you can use it.
But it can break especially scripts in the main quest.
