I am disappointed to find that, like vanilla Skyrim, the game still has effectively no damage types and resistances. With the introduction of the classic mechanism of XP points for unaliving opponents, different D&D damage types (piercing, slashing, blunt, etc.) with elemental oposition should have been restored. There are only minor effects, like some cretures not taking poison damage. A loading screen tip mentions frozen enemies shattering. But I don't need to care about this in practice.
Even though early on the stealth archer is weakened, by mid to late game he can once again decimate almost everything with the exception of the pair of invincible asssassins, as long as there is enough room to retreat. The damage difference between normal and stealth shots seems to have been slightly increased. I can unalive the biggest Dwemer brass robot, an ice elemental or humanoid dungeon bosses with 3 arrows.
Ghosts should not take damage from normal weapons, and require Arrows +1 or greater or magic to attack. Magic arrows should be conserved and encourage the player to swith to +1 meelee weapon or learn spells. At night glowing creatures are much too easy targets. There was remains of this mechanism in Oblivion. But you could forget about this once you got a magic bow, even shooting basic arrows.
The player character is supposed to have a connection with magic, but he can go through the game without doing any magic at all.
There should have been a way of using up the pointless clutter like silver bowls or candle holders. It seems that we cannot melt them down in the smeltery, which only takes weapons. This clutter should either have a use or not exist at all like in other games where only items of value can be picked up. The message of "recycling" could have been pushed.
Most opponents don't have any loot, only the most basic leather armor and no gold pieces. Some ghosts drop physical (worthless) armor.
A large part of the map still has a greyscale filter on it as if a magical dementor had cast a fog of depression there. I play without the "ENB" module because my computer is too weak to load it, and the trademark Skyrim greyscale thing shows. Most of the starting area has nice flowers, similar to Oblivion. If a winter was to be simulated, flowers and such should just be removed instead of turning the player character's weapon and hands grey.
When the Nehrimese war starts, there should have been parties of soldiers everywhere. I only encountered one team of four in the snowy area where Esme was. Everyone talks about the ongoing war and how impossible the Nehrimese are to beat, but there is no war. How come enemies can't loot scrolls of Teleport to Ark or Sun Temple and enter it this way?
Still effectively no damage types
