Unable to increase stats

Hi!
I'm unable to increase my Combat/Crafting stats. I have unallocated Learning & Crafting points. I have the appropriate books (apprentice - since all my stats are at the starting level).
After using a book, the following happens:
-Book consumed. (that's ok)
-Learning/Crafting point does NOT decrease on Character page (H).
-Combat/Crafting skill does NOT increase on Character page (H).

Version: English, Steam
Last time integrity verified: 2020-04-27 CET
Current content BuildID: 4946246

-Does the issue persist if you verify the integrity of Enderal’s game cache?
Yes, it does.

-Does the issue still occur if you reload an earlier save?
Yes, it does. Even with new games.

-Is it a bug or a feature?
I presume that since the learning books are still in the game... And the game haven't reverted back to the Skyrim-style leveling system... It's a bug.

-Is the issue caused by additional mods?
It does even with ONLY Forgotten Stories enabled.

-Does an existing ticket already cover the issue you were going to report?
Haven't seen anyone reporting such.

-Are you able to reproduce the bug (does the bug appear again and again)?
Every time.

The link actually works, only that the forum's engine is wrongly uses the url linking.
You can see that what additional address ("https://forum.sureai.net/users.atw.hu/wattafuki/files/saves.7z") it adds to the above address at your bottom of your browser.
If you want, just highlight and ctrl+c/ctrl+v it into your search bar.
I believe that's common sense in such situation.

I now have your save with your test character .

It works with us without any problems (clean Enderal installation).

You have written:

Did you ever have (Skyrim?) Mods installed?
If yes, which?
If so, deactivation is not always enough, they must also be uninstalled. Maybe they changed scripts too. Steam check can't always fix that.

Try to reinstall the game clean:

Uninstall Enderal, then delete these three folders:
1. ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\Enderal (the game folder)
2. C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\Enderal (settings and saves). save your savegames beforehand (you can copy the back later)!
3. C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Enderal (mod-configuration)
- restart your PC
After that, reinstall Enderal and launch it via Steam.

Since your test character save is not affected, I assume that your other saves are not damaged (I hope so...but I fear not...).

I've thought I removed all instances that touched the leveling system... Well, turned out, that some other mod which touched a few perks via script files was the culprit. I've notified the aforementioned mod's author about his/her shortcoming.

Can something be done about the footstep sounds? Even if I increase the volume of it to maximum and increase volume of my speaker, I can hardly hear my run/walk sounds (on any surface), yet the landing (from fall/jump) sound is quite audible.

It would be helpful for other users in the future if you would tell us which mod caused the problem

We could not reproduce the problem with the footstep sounds. They can be set loud enough in the launcher settings.
Maybe another mod problem (some have their own audio slider)?

look, we can't specify the mod if you don't tell us what you have installed.
we understand that there are a lot of mods that users that just don't want to admit to, but no one's judging here.
both of your issues were not reproducible on our side, so you can keep your saves.
