Indifferent? No, speaking only for myself, I am intentionally ignoring your questions. The main indifference I see is your indifference to everyone else's time and effort. You have asked seemingly hundreds of questions on this forum and you seem to expect a bevy of answers for each. However, you often ask questions that are quite simple where the answer can be found by searching the forum or the wiki or the internet. For example, if you google "Enderal:Gagantua" you will find a video that shows exactly how one player took on these wild mages and defeated them. Did you view it? Did you even look for it? And it seems all you do is ask and complain. How many of your 100+ posts have answered other people's questions?
You seem to expect hundreds of other people to spend hundreds of hours of their time filling up the wiki with information so that the answer to every question you have can be found with you barely lifting a finger. But wait, there's more. I recall last year you asked a question where the answer was readily available in the wiki, and you then admitted you didn't even bother to check the wiki for the answer. Yet you admit that you don't contribute to it, but you expect everyone else to do so.
You have posted dozens of complaints about the Enderal wiki and forum, comparing it to what you can find for Skyrim. Wow, Skyrim, put out by a team of hundreds of paid professionals 7 years ago, which has sold millions of copies (and how many more were played with pirated copies), is still being actively sold and played with their online version, and you seem to expect that the wiki and forum participation for Enderal should be comparable, even though it was developed by a small handful of part-time enthusiasts, only out for less than 2 years, and only downloaded by a small percentage of those who have Skyrim.
This forum may appear to lack activity to you, but look at the posts of dyslexicfaser; she has had almost 12,000 views, so obviously people are watching the forum. Many people have played Enderal and moved on, or they are watching and waiting for FS to come out. Most factual questions are answered by the wiki. Many other topics have already been discussed and the answers can be found by searching the forum.
You also seem to conflate the wiki and the forum. The wiki will provide answers to factual questions where the answer is the same for everyone, such as "where is the key for door X" or "where can I buy ambrosia potions?" It is not a walkthrough, a strategy guide, or a discussion of builds and tactics. You ask how to defeat a couple of wild mages. I ask, how did you make it to level 35 without being able to take on a couple of them? You provide no information on your tactics, weapons, equipment, or what you have tried to do to defeat them, but you are critical because someone doesn't hand you a simple answer on a silver platter.
So, I am not indifferent. I have tried many times to help people on this and other forums. But when I see a post by MacSuibhne, I think OMG, now what!
This was a civil conversation until your self-important, self righteous little rant--no anger, no vitriol , no
personal attacks... not on my part, not on anyone's part. Nor in any other post I've ever made here. In fact I seriously doubt that you can document
any examples of remarks that I have made before this last several that are in any way derogatory or accusatory.
But you're right, "indifference" isn't the right word...esp. not when it comes to you, in particular. You're not answering my questions because you're above it all. Too savvy, too much the Enderal Guru. It's a burden for people like you to be engaged in any way with the unwashed, non-techies, and the clueless. You have to lower yourself to answer questions.
The major reason I don't contribute to the wiki or answer questions here is because
I don't claim to know it all. Or even very much. That's why I come here--trying to learn. I'm
asking questions, not showing off. Maybe my questions are dumb or maybe if I poured over empty wiki entries for a year or two I wouldn't need to ask any questions. But I just want to play the game not analyze cryptic or incomplete documentation. [ And FWIW, it's a
translation from German...the whole game is]
What is this forum intended for if not as a resource for people trying to learn? People have different styles of learning. I use the wiki when I find it relevant and "there." I try to ask questions when i can't find the answer readily in the documentation.
But , the question your ginned up outrage begs is "why have a forum at all if the answer is always "look somewhere else." "Figure it out yourself" "Google it"? No, I understand...if everyone did that, the weight you're carrying would be lighter.
Beyond that, sometimes I ask questions, and then pursue the replies because I am looking for civil conversation and a sharing of the experiences. Responses such as yours don't brook conversations or encourage sharing. maybe that's why this forum is so dead.
All that BS about how many people respond and how many posts they have, is just that-- self-congratulatory BS. That may have been true early on but nowadays this forum and questions that are posted sit unanswered or minimally answered for days, weeks and even months.
But I guess if you're not really engaged, if it's all too much bother and all beneath you, you don't notice that.
And PS...FWIW, I have gotten a lot of good, informative, and
civil help here and thanked every single person both for the knowledge and the time taken.
Personally thanked them, not just clicked on an icon.
