How does one know if affinities unlock?

So I hit 10 perks each that were not talents in infiltrator and the bow one.

I did not get a message but I knew it was a skill boost.

I am not seeing the skill boost. still just plus one from knowledgee.

I am sure this is somehow my fault

(ps. anyplace that crunches the numbers on what each skill boost does (like is it .5% per skill point for marksman/archery skill points)

I got notification (I don't remember if it was in the upper-left corner or in a dialog box) when I got an affinity.

Also check Magic window -> Active effects.

When you say the bow one, I assume you mean "trickster." There is no affinity for the combination of infiltrator and trickster. You can see the list of possible affinities in the wiki.

I guess I was just not high enough yet on possible affinity.

I now have arcane archer. sweeeeet.
