I'm trying to install Arktwend because I enjoyed Nehrim and Enderal, but I seem to be running into an issue that I can't find reference to anywhere online.

I create a duplicate folder of morrowind and install the Arktwend files there, then manually unzip the english arktwend version there, then add the overhaul version on top of that. I select the appropriate (I think) data files to activate, and try to run the game.

I get a variety of warnings, that I'll post here below.

One of the files that "TAO.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save.
This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message
but not necessarily fix any errors.
One of the files that "TAO_Windows_Glow.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save.
This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message
but not necessarily fix any errors.
One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information.
Object reference "Stadttur01"
missing in master file.

When the game ends up launching, I'm embedded in a pile of rocks and can't interact with anything or move, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Hello juniper545
Which version of Morrowind are you using? If it is the Steam version, then the version used MUST always be in the original Morrowind folder
(but parallel installations can be achieved quite quickly by renaming or moving).
Also, for Steam the MorowindCodePatch must be installed in your version of Arktwend, as the Steam files are newer than the mod files and therefore the older files are ignored (the code patch changes this automatically, but an older version may be even better, as the very latest one is known for other incorrect settings).

In the case of installation errors, it is important to delete the remains of files from the folders after uninstallation before a possible reinstallation so that there are no complications later (only save your game saves if they are not also defective).

Regarding third-party mods: unfortunately we cannot provide support for mods that were not created by us, this would have to be done by the respective creators, TAO is such a mod. Often you can still find the creators via NexusMod's, but understandably not always, especially if the mods are quite old.

Try an installation without any other mods (also keep in mind that SureAI only created the German versions of MyarAranath and Arktwend, the rest is the work of the community).

this version is for open Morrowind, an alternate engine,
or did you just mean the TAO patch?

Yes. This version is for the open source Morrowind, the alternate engine, but it works just as well on the standard engine.
It installs by copying the files into the game folder without any additional EXE installation files.

It removes the German letters in the file names to avoid problems in OpenMW and uses newer patches.
